My name is Holly McCormack I am a 24 year old single mother of two beautiful children. My oldest is my daughter, she is 3 years old and my youngest is my little boy who is 16 months old. Just about a month and a half ago I left the father of my children because he was very abusive toward me and I did not want my children to endure the pain of growing up in an abusive household. I am also a student attending the University of Phoenix majoring in Business Management/Admin. I am half way through the AAB program. I have fallen into some hard times financially since I left my childrens father. When I first started my courses I was only attending part time in order to continue working full time as a Restaurant Manager. I then ended up quitting my job in order to accelerate my degree program from part-time to full-time. This change also allowed me to stay at home with my children while he worked to cover our living expenses. I have been actively seeking work and have two promising interviews coming up this Thursday and Friday. At the time I left him I had about $900 in savings, that he did not know about, and have been living on that money ever since. After paying the rent and utilities last month I have nothing left. I have been losing sleep worrying about paying the rent which is due Aug. 1st. I am literally sick with worry. I don't really have any family here in Az. and for the past few years my childrens father did not allow me to have friends so my children and I are pretty much on our own. I have tried to get appointments for state emergency rental assistance but for the past 3 weeks but every Monday morning, no matter how early I start calling, I am turned away because they have filled all appointments for the week and they tell me to try again the next week. I have nowhere else to turn and was searching the internet for some kind of emergency help when I came across your information on a local Phoenix website. We are in desperate need of a helping hand to help with our rent due Aug 1st in the amount of $635.04. I am sure I will be able to start working and make it after that.
